Ace Attacks Ron Paul

It's brutal, and well-written.

Among the many things I don't believe, I don't believe that Ron Paul is actually "just advising neutrality" on Israel, though he casts it that way. Racists tend to cast their views as "just staying out of squabbles," when in fact they're partisans on one racial team. Likewise Paul, who claims he simply wants to stay out of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, can't help himself from claiming the Israelis are maintaining "concentration camps" and slaughtering Palestinians without provocation.

It just so happens his political positions dovetail with the animosities of his old newsletters (which he had nothing to do with, apart from putting his name on the masthead, collecting subscription fees, and signing lots of articles as "Ron Paul," using the pronoun "I" (as in "I, Ron Paul") as the speaker in most missives, etc.).

Ace brings up the Alex Jones trutherisms, the U.S. Nazi party trying to raise money for Paul, Stormfront doing their thing, the Paulite methodology of sticking pork earmarks for his district into bills he votes against (getting the best of both worlds), etc. It's not a pretty picture that Ace paints.

The thing is, Paul has brought on some people in his campaign - notably Bruce Fein - which belies some of these notions. That doesn't necessarily mean that I'm saying Ace is wrong, mind you, but I think there's more to the story than just his round-up of anti-Paul talking points. The question is, how much more is there to the story, and is any of it exculpatory?

At any rate, it's way past time for Ron Paul to address all of those memes out there about him (including his crazed Internet trolls), especially if he comes close to winning the Iowa caucuses. If he ignores them, and wins or comes in second, then suddenly the burning light of the Eye of Sauron will be upon him, and all of the points Ace brings up in his post will become the headlines for weeks on end.

If you thought the Hermie The Love Bug Spectacular was a news scrum to behold, just you wait for that.
